Music Personnel

Sue Carson, CAGO is the organist for our church. She graduated from the University of California in Berkeley with a math major and music minor, with an emphasis on choral conducting.

Sue's early musical training was through private instruction on the piano and singing in the church choir. Very early she discovered that her first love was accompanying.

At sixteen, Sue, became an instant organist when she was recruited to fill in for the church organist who went on a six week summer vacation.

Sue married and raised four children, during which time she taught both organ and piano privately. She has served many churches as an organist and or choir director. She also directed or accompanied community, municipal, corporate, and park district choirs.

In 1980, Sue moved to Washington where she worked at Boeing for thirteen years and served as organist or choir director at various Presbyterian churches in the area before coming to First Presbyterian Church of Kent.

She is active in the American Guild of Organists in both the Seattle and Tacoma Chapters. The "CAGO" after her name signifies that she passed a rigorous test in 2003 to earn a special certificate, and is now a "Colleague of the American Guild of Organists."
