FLOORING PROJECT

Recently Session approved the new floor project for the Sanctuary. Tongue and groove bamboo is being installed in the choir loft, chancel area, and nine feet in front of the the steps leading to the Communion Table. A new carpet will be installed throughout the rest of the Sanctuary after the bamboo is installed.

Those volunteers working on the installation are Emil Drivdahl, Horace Ludwig, Val Shrauner, Rod Parkinson, Eric Werner, Bill McCutcheon, Wendell Alexander, Neil Bolkom and Don Shannon, project manager. Rik Shafer is the official photographer.

The hardwood flooring project is complete. You might be interested in the statistics of the project. The project began May 17, 2005 and was completed June 6, 2005. There were ten volunteers for a total of 465 total man hours. The work took 18 days with the average man-hours per day being 5.7 hours.

The project used over 1150 flooring boards and over four thousand nails. Four hundred precision cuts were made in the course of the project to cover the 1150 square foot area.
