When the music search committee began looking for an organist to replace Sue Carson, it firmly believed that God would lead us to another gifted church musician. The search committee and session are very grateful to God to present Justin Cormier as our new organist.
Justin is a great match for our church. His unique skill-set brings us just what our new job description says we want in our organist: “We value a standard of music excellence that connects with our community and attracts people to our church. We seek a diversity of musical expression that matches the diversity of our congregation and the church universal.” Justin has a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Seattle Pacific University. He is a well-trained organist and experienced music educator. He has served as music director at an Episcopal church on Vashon Island, as church musician at a Lutheran church in Everett, organist choirmaster at a Richmond Beach Lutheran church, and organist at Lutheran churches in Shoreline and Enumclaw.
His music education experience includes private music instruction, and service as a middle school band director, college choir director, and chapel worship director.
Perhaps the best commendation of all comes from Marceau, master organ builder who rebuilt and installed our Reuter pipe organ. Marceau knows Justin. In fact, when Marceau was recently servicing our organ, here is what he said of Justin: “I feel honored that Justin will play this organ.” Justin has two small children and lives in Auburn. He begins as our organist on Sunday, April 26.
